“Rules of Play”
- U.S.G.A. Rules Govern all play except when determined by committee. (Play the ball down)
- Only balls that are named on the USGA list of conforming golf balls. Penalty Disqualification. If you need verification, please check in the pro shop for conforming USGA golf ball list.
- All clubs must also conform to U.S.G.A. regulation and be named on the list of conforming clubs. Penalty Disqualification.
- The 14-club rule is always in effect …. See section 4.4 USGA Rules of Golf.
- We allow relief when a ball is embedded in its own pitch-mark, anywhere except in a hazard.
- No player will be penalized because of a missing or incorrect handicap on his scorecard.
- All play is from the White Tees.
- It is permitted to play extra holes or to practice on the course the day of competition.
- All Putts MUST be holed out. No Gimmees!
- The “One Ball Rule” is not in effect. However you may Only Change balls during the course of play due to loss or ball becoming “unplayable”. (You may NOT change balls and putt with a different type of ball.) You may at any time change balls prior to teeing off on any hole.
- There are no restrictions on where a player’s partner or caddie may stand during a putt, except that no one is permitted to stand where he would be considered a target.
- All putter grips are legal.
- It is permitted to give advice to anyone in your foursome. It is permitted to accept or ask for advice in your foursome.
- Cart paths are immovable obstructions. Nearest relief with stance and one club length may be taken no nearer the hole for your drop. Flowerbeds are also immovable obstructions. Where wooden railroad ties abut or adjourn an immovable obstruction, the ties are part of the obstruction.
- You may rake and place your ball in a sand trap if it is clearly in a footprint. If in doubt play it as it lies. Loose stones and debris in a bunker may be removed without penalty.
- The committee will determine if course conditions warrant “Winter Rules”
- When “Winter Rules” are in effect a player may improve his lie within one grip length of where it comes to rest anywhere through the green. If the ball is to be lifted and cleaned it MUST be marked prior to any action. You may not move it onto a green or closer to the hole. In a sand trap, a player may lift, smooth, and place, but not move his ball to another spot.
- Free relief from French tile drains and any exposed drainage.
- The Leaf Rule will be in effect only when declared. Under the Leaf Rule, if a ball is obviously lost in the leaves, and if there is no reasonable doubt that it is in bounds and not in a hazard, the players in the group will make their best guess as to the ball’s location. The player may choose, without penalty, to drop a ball as near as possible to that location in a spot that allows room for his stance and swing (but not necessarily an open shot).
- Slow Play Policy - The first group of an event is expected to play at a pace equivalent to 12 minutes for par 3’s, 13 minutes for par 4’s, 14 minutes for par 5’s when playing in foursomes. This translates to an 18 hole pace of 3 hours and 54 minutes to play our course. A group found to be the equivalent of two full shots behind, the group in front of them AND which is not on schedule per the pace of play time established, shall be approached by a rules official and informed that their group is out of position, and that the group is on “On the Clock”. This will serve as the only warning for each competitor prior to being penalized for subsequent slow play. Following this official warning, all of the players in the group will be timed. If on any shot, from the time it is clearly his turn to play, a player takes more than 40 seconds to play his shot, the player will be assessed a two stroke penalty. If the competitor again violates the slow play policy, he will be disqualified from the event and removed from the course.
- Inappropriate behavior will not be tolerated during league events. Any behavior deemed inappropriate can result in a 2 stroke penalty or immediate disqualification a competitor. Penalty determination will be conducted by the rules official and all decisions are final. The following acts specifically will not be tolerated: malicious damage to the golf course, whether intentional or accidental: or any damage to any part of the facility’s course or equipment. Use of loud, crude language or engaging in excessive drinking. Purposely throwing or breaking golf clubs, or any acts unbecoming to golf.
