Bar Wars Golf League 2010 

League Rules of Play

Season – Bar Wars Golf League will play every Thursday beginning on May 13 and concluding on September 2 (17 weeks).

Teams – Each team will consist of four (4) players representing their favorite bar. There will be no limit to the number of teams per bar (ex. Two teams from Kilcoyne’s Bar will be Kilcoyne’s Team #1, and Kilcoyne’s Team #2). Teams will be allowed two (2) substitute players. If a team has all its players, the substitutes will be allowed to play in a separate group and enter into the optional cash games.

Competition – One bar team will play a 9-hole match against an opposing bar team each week (league schedule of matches will be provided once registration has closed) over a 17-week season. Deerfield Golf Club will manage the results of matches and post the standings each week on the web site, at the golf club, and at the bars. The team with the most wins at the end of the season will be declared the Bar Wars Champion and receive the Bar Wars Cup Traveling Trophy and bragging rights for the next year.

Format – Stroke Play (Net). Combined Total of the low three (3) team scores of four (4). Team with the lowest total wins match.

Example: Kilcoyne’s Team #1 – Bob shoots 36, Bill shoots 38; Ron shoots 40, Mike shoots 42

Team Total = 114 (3 low scores, 36+38+40). 

Trax Team #2 – Lee shoots 34, Carl shoots 37, Jim shoots 39, and Tim shoots 43 

Team Total = 110 (3 low scores, 34+37+39). 

Trax #2 Team wins match.

Handicaps - Each player will have a computerized league handicap based on a maximum of 5 scores. Players will establish a league handicap after they play just one week.

Pairings – Foursomes will consist of teams #1 and 2 player paired with the opposing teams #1 and 2 player, and the teams #3 and 4 players paired together (two 4-somes per match). Substitute player will play in the spot of the player they are substituting for.

Tee Times – times will begin at 5:00 pm, and will be assigned based on the competition schedule. If you have a conflict with tee times, you may schedule your match at any time during or prior to the league day but this must be agreed by both teams.

Tees – The league matches will play from the Gold Tees. We will rotate front nine and back nine from week to week.

Fees -              Weekly 9 hole green fee $24 for residents $27 for non-residents

Skins Game (Optional) – We will conduct a net and gross skins game each week in addition to the regular matches. The entry will be $5 for each (league members may enter into both net and gross skins). Cash will be paid out to all skin winners. If no skins are won, the money pot will carry over to the following week.
