Longest Day of Golf 36 Hole Event 2011

What is the Longest Day:

Welcome to our fifth year of the "Longest Day of Golf." The "Longest Day of Golf" is played on or close to the summer solstice.

We play four different nine hole formats for a total of thirty-six holes of golf in one day.

A steak dinner follows the golf and prizes are awarded.  Teams may win prizes in only one of the four formats and in the total category.  This ensures multiple winners.

The field was close to 80 players in 2009 and we do expect this years field to be even larger.

When:

Thursday June 16, 2011

Longest Day Rules:

Your exact handicap and team handicap will be marked on the scorecards when you arrive on Thursday morning.

U.S.G.A. Rules Govern all play except, as listed
on the scorecard or here.
The one ball rule is not in effect.
All play is from the gold tees.
In case of a questionable situation, play two balls and get a ruling as possible.
The decisions of the rules committee are final. Please record both the gross AND your net scores on the scorecard. (Example if you receive a stoke and score a 5 the card should be marked with 5/4.)
Handicaps will be verified and will be used as follows…

1st Nine Holes are…

1 Net Best Ball out of Two

– Simply put, take one low net score of the team and record that score full individual handicaps apply to the appropriate holes.

(Example a 6 handicap will get stokes on those holes listed as the 6 or lower handicap holes)

2nd Nine Holes are…

Modified Alternate Shot Net

– Both players tee off on every hole.  Select the best drive and then alternate shot form that point. (The opposite player of the selected drive plays the second shot)

A team handicap using 50% of the combined index has been determined and marked on your scorecard. A team receives strokes on the appropriate handicap holes.

(Example a team handicap of 8 will get stokes on those holes listed as 8 or lower handicap holes)

3rd Nine Holes are…

One Scratch and One Net ball of the two

– The low score of the two ball scores with NO HANDICAP and then the other score uses handicap strokes, not the same ball.  Full individual handicap applies.

(No limit on the number of scratch or handicap holes each players needs to use.)

(Example a 6 handicap will get stokes on those holes listed as the 6 or lower handicap holes)

Last Nine Holes are…

2 Person Scramble

– Both players hit then select the best shot.

Pick up the other ball and both players hit from the best position again, continue until the ball is holed. A team handicap using 50% of the combined index has been determined and marked on your scorecard. A team receives strokes on the appropriate handicap holes.

(Example a team handicap of 8 will get stokes on those holes listed as 8 or lower handicap holes)
